Shop Radio Cast

I’ve been meaning to give some props to an online record store for a couple of weeks now.  The company I speak of is called Shop Radio Cast and I have been buying from them for a while now.

Fans of limited edition pressings and especially punk rock releases will get a kick out of this site.  They seem to always carry the stuff I can not find in my neck of the woods.  There’s nothing like just jumping online and snagging what you want right there and then without being overpriced.

I feel like I am a commercial…  Shop Cast.  Shop, Radio Cast.

Honestly, it is not just the selection, but also the great customer service.  The guys at Shop Radio Cast answer questions quickly and will resolve any problem as fast as they can.

Case and point:  I ordered the Record Store Day version of The Menzingers Chamberlain Waits in April after having no luck in Ohio finding it.  I did not open it for weeks and when I finally did this past week I discovered it was the regular black vinyl version and not the Record Store Day blue version I thought I had purchased.  I emailed the company to tell them of my disappointment thinking that I was out of luck getting the limited edition version and not even a couple hours later received a response.  It was a simple overlook, but the company made sure that I was taken care of, and guess what?  They were able to locate a Record Store Day version for me and I should have it soon.

It’s nice to have customer service like that.  I have dealt with other online records stores (whose names will remain unnamed…..for now) and either got shitty, short replies or no response at all.

So, props to you fine folk at Shop Radio Cast.  You make it easy for me to waste all of my hard earned money on my addiction also known as vinyl.  Keep up the good work!

Record collectors…  Check them out.  www.shopradiocast.com  They don’t just deal with punk rock genres but also rock and indie.  If you are turned down by the idea of vinyl, they sell CDs, clothing and even hot sauce.  Bitchin’.

UPDATE:  I feel the need to let anyone who stumbles upon this post that SRC never threw me any freebies back in 2011 when I posted this.  I was being sincere.

Over the years, I continued ordering from them but pretty much stopped after the SRC vinyl subscription series was introduced.

I felt kind of cheated out in a way with that series as I was never told I was in the top 10 until I received the first record and then realized the limited edition hand numbered pressings were just records with a cardboard sleeve over them.  I was expecting something a little more official I suppose.

Regardless, having Hum and Quicksand in my collection is pretty bad ass.

As far as SRC goes as a company, I know for a fact that they are not a big operation and there are a handful of them who run that show.  As far as ordering and customer service, I personally never had issues with them, but that was after I realized they communicated within their website to the consumer rather than a direct email.

Seeing comments still come in to this day almost bums me out for the sake of SRC, but I also know in the world of retail, stand alone store or online, you need to bust your ass and keep things running smooth.

Here’s hoping they can fix any of the problems with orders out there and reflect as the website I once referred to.

  1. well my experience has been quite the opposite. They have poor communication and apparently poor stock. On top of that they have non-existent customer service that won’t even respond.

I will never shop there again and have been attempting to get refunded for an order I haven’t even gotten yet.

  2. I agree with Tom. I ordered almost $80 dollars worth of merchandise in October/2011 and still have not received anything..not even an explanation as to why. Today is January/2012. Fuck Shop Radio Cast.

  3. Who at Shop Radio Cast paid you to write this. SRC is nothing but problems. they’re liars and crooks. they fail to ship out orders in a reasonable time, if they ever actually ship them. many times they just print shipping labels, so the orde/package gets marked and comes up as “shipped” even though SRC has not actually shipped the package as it’s still sitting in their warehouse, probably not even packaged up. they don’t tell you when items are backordered. they don’t respond to customer inquiries about the status of an order. and when their customer service does respond they are very rude. everything they list for sale they DO NO actually have in hand or in stock, it’s just thing they are capable of getting for customers. SRC is a glorified broker, nothing more. once an order gets placed for an item through SRC they place an order for it with their supplier, who may or may no even have copies left themselves to send to SRC to fulfill SRC orders. when they do refund people they only give store credit, not an actual refund. so you are forced to shop there again even if no longe want to give SRC your business. they also scam their way into record store day every year, using fake addresses in order to get on the list of official RSD stores, even though they are not an actual brick and mortar indie record store. they got caight and continue to do it, banned by RSD and continue to scam their way into RSD and getting RSD products by falsely filing out paperwork and using other companies names and addresses.

  4. This saddens me because I am in the middle of a similar experience. I ordered $60 worth of merchandise and have not gotten an email response, or a call back and it has been days with no shipment. I even paid extra to have the item shipped quickly because I wanted to get it before going out of town. I do a lot of online shopping and so far this literally has been the worse experience. I am worried that I will never receive my items or my money back. What a scam *tear*

  5. This seriously bums me out that all these people are having problems with SRC.

Did you know that they reply to their emails within their own website? I did not know that for a while, but if you log in, you will see an inbox. Maybe they tried communicating with you through there?

No one has paid me to give them props at all. I have had nothing but good experiences with them. That’s not to say I will next time by what you have all been saying…

  6. I just sent these guys an emailing explaining why I will NEVER order from them again. It’s appalling how long it takes them to ship items. The only other distro that has taken as long as them was Goodfriends. Once I emailed Goodfriends they gave me a refund right away and explained they were going out of business. SRC does not have that excuse. It’s astounding that people still order from there.

  7. Yeah, nothing but problems with that place. Never again will I waste my time or money with them.

  8. i used to have good experience as well, but here lately it has gone down hill fast. no replies to external, or internal site email, as well as they never answer the phone number that has been indicated on their site. not sure if they are just out of business and not telling anyone, but they seem to keep sending out emails of new things to buy so i don’t think that is the case. just poor service indeed. you have been warned.

  9. Shoot, Just spent $120 on music that seems to be great finds=( I paid with PayPal so hopefully they’ll have my back. Thats horrible. I’ve been trying to call them and the number is for another store called Danikees? I have no idea what that is but thats why it says. This is not good. The phone number that is listed for pay pay is 18887473899 x101. There is no such extension. This place is a joke. I’ll wait ten days then request my money back from paypal. What a mess. -Jeffrey

  10. Pff, I read this reviews so late, 3 weeks ago I ordered a Touche Amore t-shirt, I had no further notice of my order, USPS tracking number haven’t got anything, e mail cust service does not answer… FTS…

  11. It continues…they are ripping me off for $102. Ordered back in January, got a tracking number in March & the order hasn’t gone anywhere. SRC is a complete scam operation & I warn anyone who will listen…DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF!

  12. My experience it totally the opposite. They sent me multiple damaged records and told me to contact the mfg of the record if I had a complaint. They wounldn’t handle their own customer service. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE GUYS… they are a joke printing and selling sub par reissues. The quality sucks and not worth your $$$ Steer clear. I am a collector and will never touch any of their records again.

    Learn from my mistake,

    Nick

  13. SRC has the most horrible customer service (or should I say lack there of) that I have EVER experienced I can’t believe this place is even still in business. my status says shipped…but when I go to track my order that was ordered over a month ago, it says that USPS was just notified that they will be shipping a package but no package has been sent. I will never shop here again & I now reffer to SRC as the Grinch, since they stole Christmas!!!

  15. I really wish my girlfriend had done her research before ordering from shopradiocast. If she had seen these comments I’m sure she would have never placed an order…..but alas, she did……and it took over 2 weeks for the vinyl record she ordered to arrive and then we she opened the pack, they had sent the wrong record!!! Emailed customer service email address twice….no response…..tried calling the phone number…..goes straight to a voicemail. absolute jokers!!! I’m going to tweet a link to this site on their twitter account so ppl can see how shit they are.

  16. I ordered a 7″ single from them once. It wasa limited edition pressed on white wax. When I got it there were black spots all over the record. I asked them for an exchange and they said no, there is nothing wrong with the record and even tried to tell me that my copy was rare and exclusive. They said if I wanted an exchange I’d have to pay for the shipping. CONCLUSION: TERRIBLE SERVICE and LIES. Customers don’t forget being treated like crap; I will never shop there again.

  17. Ive had nothing but problems with SRC. They’ve delayed multiple orders of mine for months. Whoever wrote the original story obviously is getting paid by them. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere

  18. I wrote this so long ago. I will admit, I think they are in over their heads these days and I have not really shopped there in quite some time. I was not paid anything. They took care of me in the past when I had issues with shipments. That is pretty much why I shot them kudos.

  19. I’m also in the middle of a rather concerning problem with SRC. I made a couple of purchases with them towards the end of august.

One of the orders contained a pre-order for a record releasing on October 7th. The other order were all records listed as available. I sent an email on the 13th September, just asking for an estimate on when these two orders would be shipped; they responded the very next day…

“Package 1 will ship around October 7th, and package 2 will ship within the next 2 weeks”

I checked the status of the orders today (October 13th) on their website and they are both *still* listed as “awaiting fulfillment”. It has now been one month since I sent that email and one and a half months since I placed the orders.

I’ve sent another email but from what I’m reading here, and in a number of other places, I have a feeling I’m entering the painful ‘chasing up the conveniently non-responsive merchant for several months while you ponder what looks more and more like a scam’ phase.

Another concern I’m having is that I’ve seen so many people complain about damaged goods when they actually do receive them. I live in Australia and each order contains about 10 vinyl records, so I’m scared that I’ll end up receiving two packages full of broken records….

Spent 600 USD on the two orders, hoping to hell I get my damn shit….

  20. Wish I’d read the horrific reviews on SRC. One month since my order and despite numerous emails I’ve received NO responses. And of course their phone number doesn’t work. Stay away from these crooks. I’ll be filing a claim with my bank to get my money back.
