Shop Radio Cast

I’ve been meaning to give some props to an online record store for a couple of weeks now.  The company I speak of is called Shop Radio Cast and I have been buying from them for a while now.

Fans of limited edition pressings and especially punk rock releases will get a kick out of this site.  They seem to always carry the stuff I can not find in my neck of the woods.  There’s nothing like just jumping online and snagging what you want right there and then without being overpriced.

I feel like I am a commercial…  Shop Cast.  Shop, Radio Cast.

Honestly, it is not just the selection, but also the great customer service.  The guys at Shop Radio Cast answer questions quickly and will resolve any problem as fast as they can.

Case and point:  I ordered the Record Store Day version of The Menzingers Chamberlain Waits in April after having no luck in Ohio finding it.  I did not open it for weeks and when I finally did this past week I discovered it was the regular black vinyl version and not the Record Store Day blue version I thought I had purchased.  I emailed the company to tell them of my disappointment thinking that I was out of luck getting the limited edition version and not even a couple hours later received a response.  It was a simple overlook, but the company made sure that I was taken care of, and guess what?  They were able to locate a Record Store Day version for me and I should have it soon.

It’s nice to have customer service like that.  I have dealt with other online records stores (whose names will remain unnamed…..for now) and either got shitty, short replies or no response at all.

So, props to you fine folk at Shop Radio Cast.  You make it easy for me to waste all of my hard earned money on my addiction also known as vinyl.  Keep up the good work!

Record collectors…  Check them out.  www.shopradiocast.com  They don’t just deal with punk rock genres but also rock and indie.  If you are turned down by the idea of vinyl, they sell CDs, clothing and even hot sauce.  Bitchin’.

UPDATE:  I feel the need to let anyone who stumbles upon this post that SRC never threw me any freebies back in 2011 when I posted this.  I was being sincere.

Over the years, I continued ordering from them but pretty much stopped after the SRC vinyl subscription series was introduced.

I felt kind of cheated out in a way with that series as I was never told I was in the top 10 until I received the first record and then realized the limited edition hand numbered pressings were just records with a cardboard sleeve over them.  I was expecting something a little more official I suppose.

Regardless, having Hum and Quicksand in my collection is pretty bad ass.

As far as SRC goes as a company, I know for a fact that they are not a big operation and there are a handful of them who run that show.  As far as ordering and customer service, I personally never had issues with them, but that was after I realized they communicated within their website to the consumer rather than a direct email.

Seeing comments still come in to this day almost bums me out for the sake of SRC, but I also know in the world of retail, stand alone store or online, you need to bust your ass and keep things running smooth.

Here’s hoping they can fix any of the problems with orders out there and reflect as the website I once referred to.

Record Store Day 2011

I am more excited about Record Store Day(RSD) this Saturday than most typical commercialized holidays…ok, all holidays with the exception of that one you drink a lot on…

This Saturday is the day all you wax junkies.  I will be out about about Waterloo seeing what I can find in a sea of impressive limited edition RSD releases.

The two major RSD releases I am hoping to snag are the Deftones covers album and the Menzingers yellow limited edition vinyl (going to be tough to find).  I am also on the look out for a few 7″ splits including:  Green Day / Husker Du, Mastodon/ZZ Top and Mumford & Sons / Laura Marling.   It is safe to say I will find some other goodies too.

Lucky for me I have great friends in other states who will be keeping their eyes wide open for me for some of these releases.  I am sure they will ask me to return the favor and I am perfectly ok with that.

Music Saves and Blue Arrow Records both will be open at 12 o’clock to engage in one of the greatest days of the year.  Live bands and DJs will be present at both locations to entertain throughout the day.  Good times are going to happen.

I just hope it is not ice cold outside like it was last year.  I was freezing last year and then went to an Indians game after and froze more.  I do love all that is Cleveland and that is why I did it.  It probably did not help that it was just above 30 degrees and I wore shorts and a hoodie…

This yeah, however, I plan on skipping the baseball game.  I do plan on destroying a burrito at Chili Peppers on 185th afterwards though.

Why I Love Dead Broke Rekerds…

Weeks ago I placed a healthy order of multiple vinyl goodness from Dead Broke Rekerds.  I received one order quite fast and the other was delayed and I was aware why – the company was waiting on record sleeves for the limted edition Explosivo! glow-in-the-dark LP I snagged

Today while earning my keep at the paying gig I realized that I still had not received my original order that included a copy of Explosivo! LP.

I decided to hit up the website and try and find out what was going on as it has been a couple of weeks since I handed over my money for the goods.

The moment I got onto the Dead Broke Rekerds website I see a post:

YOUR ORDERS ARE SHIPPING!!!Sorry for the delays but Paypal multi-order shipping was being an asshole, but rest assured all Explosivo Kickstarter orders, Pre-orders and every other order is shipping tomorrow and all through this week. Thanks you for your patience.

I did not need to send 1000 emails to find out what the heck was going on…yet.  I just thought it was cool the moment I hit up the site I found exactly what I was looking for.

I am sure the LPs will be at my doorstep in no time and I know I will continue to hand over my cash to this awesome online punk rock music store.

Nice job guys.  Keep up the good work.

“Be Your Bro” With Those Darlins

Next Tuesday, Those Darlins will be releasing a 7-inch of two new new album songs entitled “Be Your Bro” and “Let U Down.” This is the first taste from their sophomore album Screws Get Loose that is dropping at the end of March on OH WOW DANG Records.

It is safe to say I am excited. If anyone knows anything about me, I am a big big Those Darlins fan.  After seeing them last Fall, it is safe to say I am stoked to hear their new release.  They changed their sound up a little and it sounds amazing.

Side A) Be Your Bro
Side B) Let U Down

Those Darlins are currently touring in support of their new release. When these girls (and Linwood) tour, they tour…
